Can 529 Plan (US) Savings be used for colleges in India ?

We recently learnt that using the 529 is good way to save for college expenses of kids in the US.

However, we may move back to India at a later time and are wondering if these savings could be used for colleges in India ? 
If anyone has an idea about these college saving plans in the US, I would appreciate if they could throw some light on this issue.

I did some basic search and

I did some basic search and it looks like Indian universities are not eligible for 529 savings plan, but I am not completely sure.
